What Gunda was to the 20th Century, Kamaal R Khan (henceforth referred to as KRK) starrer Deshdrohi promises to be for the 21st.

Gunda has had such tremendous fan following, and has had among the highest ratings [citation needed] that a Hindi movie could’ve ever had on IMDB for it incorporated all possible genres that one could think of into an intense three hour movie-thon.

Deshdrohi is the BIMARU film industry’s cinematic response of sorts to Raj T’s MNS’ anti-Bihari campaign. Now we all know that Raj Thackeray has been certified insane, and is doing this just like Paris Hilton did her multiple sexcapades and Presidential campaigns for footage from all quarters possible.

After enough visibility, Raj T plans to release an album and / or star in a few movies, but that was something his PR agent told me in strict confidence. Given the low readership of this website, I’m not really concerned about this news spreading around too much anyway.

“KRK is the new SRK“, screamed the headlines of the widely read Times of Patna. Considering the total subscribers of aforesaid esteemed newspaper are equal to the total number of google reader subscribers to this website, one can imagine how popular KRK has now become. Please note that I did not say ‘readers’, only ‘subscribers’. There is a difference.

With a star cast boasting of among others, Gracy Singh, who said this performance of hers makes her work in Lagaan look like that of Bobby Deol’s in Dostana, and Roza, who dated Saif Ali Khan for three days and landed six B and C grade movie offers in the process, as well as Hrishita Bhatt (who has added some three extra H’s and some seven T’s for numerological luck), who said in the Times of Patna that compared to KRK, SRK (with whom she’s worked in Asoka) was positively meh, this movie is also worth checking out for the eye-candy factor that it provides in addition to the strong social message which you can get when you watch the movie.

KRK has overthrown Ravi Kishan to now become the most sought after actor from the BIMARU states.

Ravi Kishan who needed a serial like Bigg Boss as well arbit ad-libbing of Kabir’s Dohas as the Bhojpuri voice of Peter Parker in Spiderman-3 to become famous all over the world has now gone on the offensive and last heard, was dubbing for all of Jean Claude Van Damme’s movies, to make JC’s famous quotes more accessible to everyone in the BIMARU region, while at the same time, increasing his market value.

In the Times of Patna, he was last quoted as saying that his drop in market value was due to the ” people going for recess” (emphasis mine) in Europe and America, and that once they all got back, he could start charging his regular rates. For the record, he was both a reader AND subscriber of the ToP.

KRK, reportedly charges a princely sum of INR 1000 per movie, and like Megamart’s offers, will do three for INR 2000, and perform his own stunts as well.

I would’ve quoted dialogues from the movie on my website, but I want all of you to go and watch the movie. I plan to convince my team at the office that this would be an ideal movie to watch during our upcoming team outing.

During one of those times when I was supposed to sit and work on something important, my mind, as usual drifted off in one of those random flights of thought that have been so characteristic of me since class two when I was thrown out of class for not answering my attendence despite occupying the first bench.

Being thrown out of class was something I was supremely thrilled with, because it provided me with a grown-up’s endorsement to go out, play in the school grounds, sit and watch slugs move and leave their slimy trails behind, help the aayah in school in ringing the bell, a few minutes earlier simply because I liked the sound of it. This was more enjoyable than attending class on some occasions, and the propensity towards missing out on classes only magnified further as the years progressed.

This particular train of thought veered towards what the future generations would think of us, the first generation of bloggers. I can only imagine my kid reading about my ‘Dorky Guffaw’ adventures, or about how strongly hippie I have allegedly been, and wonder whether his/her image of me many years hence will be the same as what I’ve portrayed now through my online content.

Our generation has been simultaneously privileged as well as encumbered in some ways due to the revolutionary changes having been brought upon us due to the internet. While communication channels have been made so easy, and long lost friends separated over space and time-zones can still stay in touch as if they were only in the next room, and information of all sorts is available to us within a few clicks, I am led to wonder whether we’re really better off compared to previous generations.

The internet has also brought about a significant invasion of our privacy, and a lot of time is spent on the internet instead of in getting a first life. The future generations might be even worse off than we are, or might ridicule us for our extreme involvement with the net. Nothing exemplifies it better than the constantly changing arbit facebook status messages.

For instance, my current facebook status is as follows: “Hari is astounded at how make-up can make the prettiest women look majorly scary.”

While I might think it is funny right now, or at least, somewhat vaguely relevant, this is just going to be arbit nonsense once I end up saying something else.

While those bloggers who have a defined intent which leads them to blog, and have something topical to write about will have their work appreciated over time, those who use their websites as a means of unleashing arbit (case in point being yours truly) might just as well be better off covering their tracks, lest our children get inspired to do crazy stuff and then conveniently state how their folks’ blogs provided them with the inspiration.

In any case, such an eventuality is quite a long way ahead, and we shall cross the bridge, if it shows up, when we come to it.

On Nov 1st, saturday evening, after a highly unsuccessful albeit extremely fun filled time at the Landmarks 2008 open quiz at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall, my team mate, Modest Genius and I headed over to Shiok for dinner.

Having purchased my cycle, and not having had a full meal for the entire day, my hunger knew no bounds, and there was no better and awesomer place than Shiok to satiate my pangs of hunger.

At Shiok, in conversation with Madhu Madman Menon, while noticing a family that wasn’t particularly bothered about how the kids were behaving, our conversation drifted towards the Kansa society and its highly flexible rules that could accommodate parental slaughter should the need arise.

It was in that moment that a game was born, which can be played by anyone concerned in order to give them justifiable cause and negate the need to expiate themselves from any potentially harmful action of theirs. It is called – ‘What would Aadisht Khanna do?’.

Knowing his reputation for madness that can be exemplified first hand by his website (that I’ve linked already), and testimonials from his classmates at IIM-B who’ve witnessed his deeds, it is quite safe to say that the things he would do in response to any of the situations the game can be played in are quite random and wouldn’t be agreeable to many people, mommybloggers included. This means that the outcome of the game would be fun for you (assuming you didn’t land up here randomly searching for Omaba v/s McCain or Swagath Garuda Mall) and of course, me.

While we thought of the question and sniggered at the possible answers, the potential for this game remains enormous. Given the country’s population and the relatively low popularity of the game ‘What would Brian Boitano do?‘, the Desi version of said game that was born in Shiok on that fateful evening of 1st Nov 2008 might just bring out the answers to questions we’ve been hitherto afraid of finding out.

While there has been extensive stuff written about how my bicycling journey started (linked a couple of posts below), and how the current events related to cycling have unfolded over the eyar, the middle years in engineering college where cycling became an important part of my life needs to be written about (for it is filled with anecdotes showcasing my dorkiness), and will be done so when I’m feeling particularly nostalgic.

Now is not the time, not especially with the worst cold I’ve ever had this month, running through tissue after tissue, sounding like a snorting elephant. However, sitting at my desk, sneezing away, typing this post, I am a tad gleeful at the fact that all those other ignoramus morons who’ve been putting their cellphones in loud mode will have to bear the brunt of my snorting and nose-blowing.

Regretfully, I am not very keen on having a life long cold to counter those often atrocious ring tones, and I will have to resort to other less damaging counter-measures to ward off this crisis.

Last evening, I decided to scoot off early from the office in order to take my bike for a spin. The Trek 3700 was just calling out for me everytime I laid my eyes on it, and I had to rush back home to take it out. Armed with a helmet, and with front and rear LED lights (that can be set to flashing mode), I set out of my house, intending to just cycle arbitly so as to build up stamina for longer rides towards the band practise sessions in far away C V Raman Nagar.

Barely had I reached the end of the lane I live in, when I met up with someone who asked about my bike and helmet. Thereafter, he proceeded to take his bike out as well (another Trek 3700) and he showed me some new hitherto unknown route which went almost all the way through to Uttarahalli through Ittamadu.

Cycling through the roads aimlessly brought back a whole bunch of memories of having cycled the last time I had done so, which was to put a 15 mile ride in order to get bootlegged beer in Oslo late on a friday evening when all the alcohol selling places had shut shop.

However, the way back from aforesaid random place near my house wasn’t quite the joyride I had expected it to be, since the steep upward incline made me stop and alight from the bike, despite having switched to first gear to ride it. My legs felt like they were made of lead, and I was short of breath after about six km of cycling. However, I am most certain that with some amount of further riding, I should have decent stamina once again so as to undertake journeys that are four times this distance.

Like someone once said, it just takes a little getting used to. Further adventures to be updated on my website in due time.

It is only recently that I’ve caught on with the whole twitter phenomenon, previously being a passive observer of the same as a few other people I know went about twittering away to glory.

Despite using my twitter account regularly now, I doubt that I put up anything of significance, much like how I unleash on my website as well.

Nevertheless, the integration of my website + twitter + my mobile phone has resulted in some cool things happening.

The twitter widget on the right column of my website updates tweets from my profile regularly

The twitter tools plugin provided by wordpress sends out a tweet onto my twitter profile whenever I put a new post

Integrating twitter with my mobile courtesy of vakow ensures that I don’t have to be connected to the internet to have at least some part of my website updated on a continuous basis

Twittering is microblogging, for those that don’t want to unleash long posts. However, even for those painfully verbose characters like yours truly, the site really is some good shiite.

Having seen quite a few blogs morph into fully-fledged websites, I’ve been wondering for quite some time as to whether I should discard the arbit google pages front end I have had for my website and follow the path of those who’ve got their own server space and hosted their content online.

Having reverted to travelling between Mysore and Bangalore as and when the occasion demands it by train instead of bus, all thanks to the IRCTC website that I was until recently lazy to log on to, I have an appeal to make to the Indian Railway authorities.

I have noticed that most people tend to litter on the floor, and the slightly more conscientous of those litterbugs tend to throw stuff out of the window, and only a very infinitesimally small percentage of all train travellers actually manage to carry their own litter with them all the way till they spot a dustbin. (No prizes for guessing which category I fall under.)

If the railways would place dustbins in all second class compartments, it would support the cause of those people among us who’d now have ample justification to politely implore aforesaid litterbugs to refrain from their favourite pastime. Most litterbugs who throw waste out of the window tend to state that they wouldn’t do so if only they weren’t compelled to carry their litter with them until the opportunity to dispose the same presented itself.

Sure, there might be cases of dustbins being stolen, but that can be remedied by either screwing them tightly to the floor (an ideal place for such an arrangement is the space below the washbasin), or welding them to a metal piece in the wall on the inside of the compartment. Trash can be cleared up periodically, making our train travel cleaner and neater.

I have more simple ideas, which I think I will post for nobody to read and act upon in the days to come.
