Nonetheless, I had inadvertently cleaned up some files on the ftp server and with poor Madhu having to spend a sizeable amount of time on his day off, the site is back on with the basic wordpress theme up and running on it. All the customization has gone, and all the plug-ins need to be reinstalled / reloaded.
The old order changeth and giveth way to the new. This is a good opportunity to revamp the look of the site and make use of some of the other radical theme designs out there. I’d look it as sort of like changing houses, if you will. I’d initially thought of the girlfriend analogy, but in case of a girlfriend, you’d need to have another one as a replacement and that might not be the case, which is why a house seemed so much more appropriate.
In a few days, I’ll have new pages, new categories, new plug-ins and so on and so forth. Thank God for high speed internet on campus and the fact that wordpress will let me do this so easily. Madhu’s only point of cribbage was that wordpress didn’t have good error handling to indicate the fact that a theme that was being used wasn’t actually present in the ftp folder and hence returned a blank, though it should’ve ideally returned an error code and description.
Regular programming to commence again. O website, I have had so much to write about. I’ve been missing thee!
What an enchanting blog to have arbitrarily stumbled upon in the course of my random googling. What a fortuitous happenstance that the timing should be such that I am among the select few present to witness its phoenix-like rise from the ashes.
I reckon that if its articulate, witty, (but rather mysterious) bard continues to update it with amusing content, I may well find myself a regular visitor.
