Garden State

My claim to fame, at this point in time seems to be the fact that I share birthdays with Zach Braff, and with only eight years of a head start, he’s achieved more than I think I ever will in this life of mine.

That is pretty much the only thing that has gone good in an otherwise somber period of life, where a lackluster performance in academics, combined with a general feeling of helplessness is otherwise accompanied by what I would consider as one of the best years of my life, having chosen the right time to leave work to get back to study.

I had initially harboured grand aspirations regarding the fact that I’d be studying even further, but I now realize that a career in management related education is more or less out of the question for a variety of reasons not relevant right now. However, I would strongly like to consider the possibility that I would be studying further in totally off-beat and random areas, and that would certainly hit the spot in the future, once I’ve paid back the loan.

The prospect of EMI repayments seem like mini Damocles’ swords, each intent on delivering a small but sharp cut, which will leave a mark that will remain in memory and cause a big enough dent in finances for a decent enough time period.

At this moment in time, Zach Braff’s movie, Garden State is present on the top of my head, for its brilliant soundtrack. Turns out, Braff won a grammy for preparing a mixed tape, which comprises of some insanely brilliant songs such as ‘In the waiting line’ by Zero 7 and ‘Caring is Creepy’ by The Shins.

I’d highly recommend getting your hands on this soundtrack album, it is worth every penny. Heck, its worth an entire bleg post in its own right.

Also, a belated Happy Deepavali to all of you. I’m glad for all the mails / text messages I didn’t get, because it implied that all those who wished me, wished me in spirit, precisely how I wished everyone I could think of at a time when new beginnings were made, and the vestiges of the past were summarily discarded in order to have a strong reorganization and consolidation of self, both within and without.

I’m off to listen to the soundtrack of Garden State with the lights dimmed, wrapped in a blanket and with the itunes visualizer on to render psychedelic images on my laptop screen now. Have a good one.
