Allah ke Bande

Allah Ke Bande is a song by Kailash Kher from the movie Waisa Bhi Hota hai. The first time I heard that song was on the radio when I was travelling on the office bus, towards the office, trying to sustain a morning conversation with someone, and talking arbit stuff in general.

As soon as I heard the chorus of the song – Allah ke bande hasde, and it sort of registered in my mind, I was stunned and quite flummoxed.

I was wondering why Kailash Kher hadn’t been gunned down by the SIMI the Islamic Jihad, the Al-Qaeda, the Hamas, the CIA or some such group, because I thought the song was as offensive and blasphemous as it could get, next only to Jyllands-Posten putting up cartoons of the Prophet on their magazine.

I couldn’t for the life of me get this mental picture out of my mind about how this song referred to a post-prayer laughter club in a mosque. It was only later when I professed my stupidity to someone else that they remarked that this song wasn’t about happy followers of the Prophet, but about some birds.

Yeah! Some laughing birds! Like you’d expect me to believe THAT!

Turns out, that it was actually true, and as someone tried to explain the lyrics to me in vain, I figured out that I might’ve been wrong after all. But somehow, the thoughts of Jehadis standing around and laughing their guts off before they engage on their suicide missions adds a human touch to this whole thing, right?

In other usual, but worthy digressions, do check out Uncyclopedia for their take on religious fundaes. Blasphemous for everyone considered, but for those that have a good sense of humour and the willingness to take things in the right spirit, its quite a riot!
