Jumbo King!

We pledge to make the Vada-pav world class!

Thus sayeth the caption of the poor man’s McDonald’s, Jumbo King, which specializes in the selling of a limited menu of vada-pav and its variants.

Anyone who has been to Mumbai (even in transit) and hasn’t eaten vada pav deserves do die a painful death. There is enough and more info about this famous food preparation that takes about four seconds to make, provided all the constituent materials that go into preparing it are available readily.

On a weekend trip to Mumbai, I was introduced to Jumbo King vada-pavs by Monkee, who has had a long standing relationship with Mumbai now, and knows most of it like the back of his hand.

Apart from the standard vada-pav, it has variants of the item, including vada pav with chole, vada pav with usal, schezwan vada pav, vada pav with cheese and wheat bread vada pav. Limited menu, superbly affordable pricing, and being based on fast food chain models that have been replicated enough number of times courtesy of the big chains world-wide, Jumbo King has a significant presence in most of the local train stations, which is where most of the vaa pav eating junta invariably throng.

Check out the website for more information. Don’t eat at McDonalds or KFC. Go have a vada pav instead. Looking forward to the day when Bangalore gets its first Jumbo King.

Yummy! I adore vada paav and kanda bhajji. McD and KFC have a USP that you can buy a burger or any other item and they assure you it will taste the same. That is the exact problem I have with them! They make me eat the same taste every time, frankly it gets boring.

There is a decent stall in Food Street where you can have vada paav in Bangalore. It is near Sajjan Rao Circle. (Don’t ask me more about the location as I am differently abled in geography)

Dude, check out bangalore dot burrp dot com. It has reviews for some major vada pav place.

One thing claimed by Jumbo King is that their vada pavs taste the same uniformly across outlets, in a manner similar to the chain restaurants. I hope that this will not prove to be a deterrent to the consumption of this amazing dish!
