The Illusionist

The Illusionist is a movie starring Edward Norton and Jessica Biel (Stealth, Blade:Trinity, Texas Chainsaw Massacre), which is set in the turn of the century Vienna.

Just like The Prestige, that I wrote about a few posts prior, this is another period movie revolving around magic and the like. Another brilliant movie, what else would one expect when Edward Norton stars in it.

Loosely based on Steven Millhauser’s ‘Eisenheim the Illusionist’, the movie doesn’t have jaw-dropping special effects, but if you actually assume that Eisenheim (Norton’s character) actually does what is shown on screen, that makes him a stud-level magician.

I was interested in the ‘sleight of hand’ tricks as a kid, this has sort of rekindled it again. Watch the movie, its definitely worth it.

hey hari, the film is wicked. yeah i developed a googly-eyed crush on eddie norton after 24. and then this film just sealed the deal. the film is well done, although the transition halfway through when he starts up his new theatre drew my suspicion… nicely done, though. salima;)
