Van Halen and Hindu Philosophy

Having hopped onto the Art of Living bandwagon by embarking on their basic course this week, I noticed one peculiar thing that seemed quite unusual and worth LJing about.

I listen to ‘right now’ by Van Halen on a regular basis, specially when I am down. Nowadays, with a dismal CAT performance behind me, it seems like this song is forever being played on my ipod, and the lyrics are beautiful.

Now, in the Art of Living basic course, there was spiritual talk about how the mind always vaccilates between the past and the future, while always discounting the present. This is a basic tenet of our philosophy that goes way back, asking that we live in the present by forgetting the past and not worrying about the future.

Once the session was over for the day, as I was listening to Van Halen, this particular song that I mentioned had pretty much the exact same message that was being given to us in class.

Eddie Van Halen could be an Art of Living instructor, for all I know.
